State Senator and Senate President Pro Tem David Roberti served in the State Senate from 1980-1994. Reilly ran his campaigns during this period and was also an advisor to Roberti on strategy to ensure Democrats would retain the State Senate. In 1993, the National Rifle Association and pro-gun allies forced Roberti into a recall campaign. While the NRA spent millions to recall Roberti for his successful passage of a ban on military-style assault weapons, Reilly once again brought his expertise in fighting recall attempts to Roberti's campaign and the recall was successfully defeated. |
